Anna’s House
Farmington Hills, Michigan
Northern Oakland County has been in a drought. A vegan brunch drought to be exact.
Oh the agony of waking up on Sunday morning, hungover from Saturday’s Thai takeout extravaganza, wanting nothing more than to dive into a thick stack of vegan waffles. Or melt into a plate of perfectly prepared fluffy vegan eggs with crispy hash on the side. Only to realize that you have to either drive 25 minutes to find (sigh) or make it yourself (double sigh).
Alright, perhaps not the most pressing social issue given today’s climate, but one that needs tackling. And tackle Anna’s House did!
Located on Northwestern Highway, oddly enough between a Hookah lounge and a Home Depot, Anna’s House offers all-day breakfast for vegan food lovers. The rest of their menu isn’t too shabby either, complete with a (non-vegan) cinnamon roll as big as my niece’s head. She is 10. Vegan Mary, why mention such non-vegan delectables? Because we aren’t all vegan. Which makes Anna’s House the place to enjoy an amazing vegan brunch without having to hear the moans of others missing their beloved pork bacon. Yes, everyone wins at Anna’s. With a meticulously labeled menu, Carnivores, Gluten Free and vegetarian friends can all get their fill here. Its colorful throwback décor is merely icing on the cinnamon roll.
I’ve scrumptiously, eerrr I mean scrupulously, worked my way through the vegan breakfast menu like the dedicated culinary champ that I am. Yes, like Rocky worked the heavy bag, I have spent a dozen or so meals to fully evaluate these vegan offerings. Listen, folks, I am nothing if not dedicated to the cause.
Anna’s House, AKA Mary’s remote office, is a must. Bring the fam. Bring your friends. Bring on the vegan awesomeness.
